Citywire Engage video interview with Paul Holmes

In Short

Prime time for alternative approaches to the energy transition and credit

In this interview, Paul Holmes - Head of Distribution at Lumyna - explains why alternative strategies for ESG and credit investing are particularly relevant in the face of high inflation, rising interest rates and elevated volatility in the markets.

The current environment provides a rich opportunity set for a number of hedge fund strategies.

The economic maelstrom has wiped billions off markets and created a correlation between equities and bonds that left investors with nowhere to turn. But this can make for a perfect environment for hedge fund investors.

“The argument for alternatives really is a diversification story,”  says Lumyna’s Head of Distribution Paul Holmes. “We’re in an environment where volatility is increasing. There’s a huge amount of uncertainty. Rates are rising and actually, for most managers and a lot of the strategies that underpin their approach to investing, that’s a really favourable environment for hedge fund investing.”
